Position Summary:





Easter Seals Wyoming (ESW) hires people who are customer focused, emotionally mature and caring who have a strong desire to help people living with disabilities. Community Access Aides provide positive engaged support to individuals with disabilities living participating in habilitation services through duties assigned, to assure their needs are met in their day-to-day life, including: habilitation, building community and supports, health and safety, transportation to and from community activities, outings and scheduled appointments, and enhancement of quality of life as they move to live as independently as possible. Aides are expected to treat all individuals they encounter with dignity and respect. This position is perfect for people who possess the qualities of patience, kindness and positive communication skills. + Works to establish and maintain effective relationships with participant families and guardians.


+ Works with participant and staff to ensure that programs are conducted consistent with Individual Plans of Care.


+ Ensures that daily progress notes, Therap entries and other required documentation are completed neatly, accurately and in a timely fashion.


+ Works with Manager, Coordinator, other team members and people served to ensure that meaningful and appropriate activities and/or outings are scheduled and implemented for participants.


+ Assist participants with:



+ Activities of daily living


+ Health & Wellness


+ Leisure activities/Community participation


+ Medication


+ Personal hygiene


+ Personal safety


+ Personal goals


+ Self-Help skills


+ Communication skills


+ Self advocacy


+ Providing transportation


+ Other needs as they arise based on the persons plan of care and new supports developed by the team.







Ability to:



+ read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence and memos


+ write simple correspondence


+ effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to clients/families and co-workers


+ apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form


+ deal with problems calmly


+ communicate with people of varying skill levels


+ treat people kindly and with respect


+ perform basic computer skills


+ follow instructions


+ assist with housekeeping duties in order to maintain clean and orderly classrooms and common areas






Required Skills







+ Valid driver's license and clean driving record


+ Proof of vehicle insurance


+ Maintain MANDT certification


+ Maintain CPR/First Aid certification


+ Maintain Medical Assist certification


+ Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community.


+ Applicant must be physically and mentally able to perform all requirements of the job.


+ Pushing wheelchairs during evacuation, as well as daily during area changes.


+ Assisting participants to use walkers, crutches.


+ Ensuring workers' safety during seizures-lifting them to floor or chair, moving them to a safe area.


+ Intensive Physical Therapy regimes prescribed by a physician such as; range of motion exercises, utilization of various OT/PT material/equipment.


+ Moving equipment/material handling-up to 50# boxes, tables, chairs, retrieving materials from overhead shelves.


+ Assisting participants to use restrooms-transferring on and off stool.


+ Participating as needed in emergency behavior management techniques such as aggression control techniques such as those written as a part of a deceleration plan.


+ Knowledge of and use of Mandt techniques when the need arises.




Required Experience




+ 0-2 years


+ Experience in working with individuals with disabilities/aging, special education, personal care preferred


+ High School/Equivalent


+ Experience may substitute for High School degree


+ Applicant must pass a background check as required by the State of Wyoming.
