GENERAL DESCRIPTION:



The Veterans' Home of Wyoming is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The purpose of this position is to assist the nursing staff in providing health care for the personal/physical needs, comfort, and safety of the residents. Performs duties and tasks as delegated or assigned by the charge RN and/or nurse manager.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.






+ Provides support to a person with a disability at home, work, school, church, and other community places.

+ Assists with activities of daily living and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion.

+ Acts as an advocate for the disabled individual, in communicating their needs, self expression and goals.

+ Provides daily individual and group contact to clients through delivery of recreation and leisure activities

+ Plans and prepares for group and special event programming for clients.

+ Documents weekly progress toward group and intervention participation.

+ Participates in treatment team meetings and shift change reports.














Qualifications




PREFERENCES:



Preference will be given to individuals with six months or more experience in healthcare, typically in Human Services. CNA Certification preferred.



KNOWLEDGE:






+ Knowledge of client protocols and interventions of therapy.

+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and practice partner.

+ Knowledge of procedures of specialized sensory programs to include Olfactory, vestibular motion, tactile implements, and auditory interventions.

+ Knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities.

+ Knowledge of program adaptations.

+ Knowledge of recreation and social programming.

+ Knowledge of motivational techniques.











MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:






Education:


Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare)



PLUS



Experience:


No prior experience required



OR



Education & Experience Substitution:


1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)



OR





Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


CNA Certification








Necessary Special Requirements




PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:






+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

+ Annual influenza immunization required.

+ Work holidays, evenings, nights and weekends as scheduled.






NOTES:






+ FLSA: Non-exempt

+ Position is full-time

+ All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.

+ A background information check, including taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.

+ A pre-employment drug screening is required by the Wyoming Department of Health.
