GENERAL DESCRIPTION:




The Veterans' Home of Wyoming is seeking q qualified applicant to fill the position of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who is committed to providing professional nursing services to residents at the Veterans' Home of Wyoming. The purpose of this position is to provide the best possible healthcare for the physical and psychological well-being of the residents. This position assumes the responsibility for independent utilization of nursing judgment in the management of occasional charge nurse responsibilities to other nursing personnel within the scope of Wyoming Board of Nursing Practice Act. The Veterans' Home of Wyoming is an assisted living/domiciliary facility located at the base of the Bighorn Mountains, with many outdoor activities available.





ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.





+ Performs basic nursing procedures.

+ Assists patients in activities of daily living.

+ Arranges medical appointments for patients.

+ Orders medications.

+ Transports patients to and from appointments.

+ Conducts health clinics and immunization clinics.

+ Participates in care conferences and caseload review.

+ Performs patient assessments.














Qualifications




PREFERENCES:



Preference may be given to individuals with nursing experience in long term care and a current unencumbered Wyoming LPN License or those eligible for licensure in Wyoming.



KNOWLEDGE:





+ Knowledge of medications, administration, reactions and side effects.

+ Knowledge of First Aid techniques and CPR.

+ Knowledge of infection control and universal precaution technique.






MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:





Education:


Associate's Degree (typically in Nursing)





Experience:


0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing)


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Wyoming




OR



Education & Experience Substitution:


2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing)



Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Wyoming








Necessary Special Requirements




PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:



Must be able to:



+ Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.

+ Must be able to safely move (bend, twist, kneel, push, pull and sit for long periods of time).

+ Work evenings, nights and/or weekends when the situation requires it.






NOTES:






+ FLSA: Non-exempt

+ All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.

+ A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.

+ An annual influenza immunization is required.

+ A pre-employment drug screening is required by the Wyoming Department of Health.
